Teuscher chocolates of Switzerland was founded over 75 years ago by Dolf Teuscher, Sr. The company has since passed to Dolf Teuscher, Jr., and it remains a family-run operation. All of the chocolates created by teuscher are hand-made entirely in Switzerland before being shipped weekly to teuscher shops around the world. Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, teuscher currently has shops in New York City, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston, as well as in Geneva, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. The company operates three flagship stores in Zurich: on the Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich’s famous and expensive boutique shopping street; the original location in a centuries-old building a few blocks away on Storchengasse; and a shop in the Jelmoli department store, also on Bahnhofstrasse.
Teuscher’s signature item, the Champagne Truffle, was chosen by Oprah Winfrey as her favorite chocolate during one of her annual “My Favorite Things” episodes. In addition to the Champagne Truffle, teuscher makes a full line of truffles, gianduias, pralines and marzipans. Teuscher’s selection of chocolates are widely regarded as among the most delicious in the world. Each box of teuscher chocolates is hand-packed in the store. Customers may opt for a simple box with a ribbon, or they may choose one of teuscher’s more elegant floral boxes, or one of the many whimsical character boxes. In addition to the year-round floral and character boxes, teuscher offers a wide variety of holiday boxes for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter, as well as Halloween and Thanksgiving.
The café at teuscher will feature gourmet drip coffee and espresso beverages, as well as very special mochas and hot chocolates made from teuscher’s own chocolate. The store will also be among the first in Texas to feature a Clover coffee brewer, a new vacuum brewer (recently featured in The New York Times) that brews a single cup of coffee at a time in less than one minute, so that customers may choose their favorite type of coffee bean and have a cup brewed just for them.
The chocolates of teuscher are made in the city of Zurich, where Dolf Teuscher, Senior, founded the company more than eighty years ago. Teuscher searches worldwide for the best ingredients so that you can rest assured of receiving only the best from any teuscher shop. Our chocolates are not sold in grocery stores or department stores, since there is no way to adequately control the inventory in such a situation. Because our chocolates contain no preservatives, our most fragile items, the truffles, have a shelf life of only about two weeks. It is this need for freshness that means you must buy our chocolates only at one of our stores worldwide. If you are lucky enough to visit one of the cities in which we have stores, you simply must pay a visit to see the wonderfully colorful and creative displays. If you live in an area without a teuscher store, you can still order online.

July 2011 marks a special occasion that will be celebrated by many people worldwide, and that is the release of the eighth and final film in the Harry Potter franchise. Many of today’s young kids have grown up watching the Harry Potter movies, and they are understandably excited about the release of this, the last of the movies.
Thought this is movie number 8, this is the first of the films to be filmed in 3D. This promises to add not only a bit of extra excitement, but it will also add to the movie’s expected bottom line. Author JK Rowling has become a billionaire, and possibly the richest woman in Europe. She has also hinted recently that the story of the Wizarding World may not be over. Her next foray is with a website called Pottermore, but it has not yet been rolled out as of the date of this article.
Time will tell if the Harry Potter universe is a self sustaining one. If the writings of J.R.R. Tolkein are any indication, Ms. Rowling’s great-grandchildren may well be making a living off these characters! We can’t wait to see the movie, and we expect it to be every bit as thrilling as the book. If you are interested in buying a Harry Potter DVD, clicking on that link will take you to good summary of those available.
